Overview

Call of Nowhere is an eight-minute stereo fixed-media work that explores the timbral variety of Mongolian overtone singing. A harmonized chant sample opens the piece by moving from the city toward an imagined grassland; later, the chant becomes mysterious, dreamy, and colorful.

Processing

Mongolian chant is processed through convolution reverb and combined with a pitched sound generated through procedural wavetable synthesis. The resulting hybrid sound is placed in Ableton Live and shaped with vector delay, spectral resonator, multiband compression, granulation, and pitch shift.

Technical note

The work combines Max 8 convolution reverb with procedural wavetable synthesis, then uses Ableton Live 11 as the final arrangement and processing environment. Vector delay, spectral resonator, multiband compression, granulation, and pitch shift shape the stereo fixed-media result.
